Jamie Buis

My approach to therapy is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and collaboration. I draw from evidence-based practices while honoring the unique experiences and identities that each client brings into the room. I aim to meet clients where they are, providing a nonjudgmental space where growth can unfold naturally and at their own pace.

I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Wellness at New York University, under the supervision of Dr. Vassilia Binensztok. I have a particular interest in helping clients reframe limiting beliefs, deepen self-awareness, and build practical tools for emotional well-being. My goal is to support individuals of all ages and backgrounds in developing more balanced, meaningful, and empowered lives. Having spent over 15 years as an athlete navigating the highs and lows of competitive sports, I also deeply understand the challenges of balancing peer relationships, academics, and athletics from adolescence into adulthood.

In addition to individual work, I’m committed to supporting couples in fostering relationships built on mutual respect, understanding, and open communication. I work to create a space where both partners feel heard and valued, navigating challenges together and strengthening connections.

Away from the office, I enjoy being out in nature, reading, and spending time with family, friends and my pets.
